CALVARY KIDS

At Calvary Kids, it is our mission to teach children the gospel through hands-on Bible lessons, exciting games, meaningful crafts & special events. Through everything we do, we seek to join parents in discipling their children to become passionate followers of Jesus Christ!

Luke 2:52 tells us that “Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favour with God and man.” Each week our prayer is to help your family grow like Jesus by learning something new (wisdom), getting your bodies moving (stature), growing in your love and knowledge of God (favour with God) and connecting with other families in our church (favour with man).

No matter what age your children are or the stage of life you may find yourself in, there is a place for you to grow Calvary. We invite you to take a look through our current programs for families.

Our Vision

We join parents in discipling their children to become passionate followers of Jesus Christ.

KID’S CHURCH – SUNDAY SCHOOL

Nursery (9 months – 2), preschool (3 – 4-year-olds) and elementary-aged (JK-Grade 6) kids are invited to join our hands-on classes geared towards their learning levels. All classes of our Sunday School use the Gospel Project Curriculum taking a chronological walk through the Bible. In our classes, we help kids learn the gospel story of Scripture, love the Author and Subject of that gospel story, and then live out their part in the ongoing gospel story.

When you arrive at church, stop in at our check-in area to register your child. Here, your child will be given a name tag and you will receive a barcode sticker to use when you pick them up at the end of the service. Kids join you for worship and are dismissed before the sermon to their classes. If, for any reason, you need to be called out for your child during our time together, you will receive an information text through our paging systems. When the service ends, kids can be picked up at their classroom by showing your barcode sticker.

The un-staffed nursing room and family lounge are available for parents with kids with live audio from the service. Busy bins are also available in the family area.

AWANA

What is Awana?

Awana is a weekly outreach and discipleship program for kids.

This Scripture-based club is a mix of exciting games, relationship building and Bible literacy that help kids develop lifelong faith in Christ.

Every club meeting at Awana consists of:

  • Handbook time – where clubbers work in small groups on scripture memorization, earning awards for completing sections in their handbooks
  • Game time – high-energy games on the Awana games circle
  • Large group time – where each group comes together to dig deeper into God’s Word, worship through songs and receive awards for all of their hard work

Within our Awana program, there are 4 clubs for different age groups:

Puggles is a foundational curriculum for young children that communicates biblical truth in a fun and age-appropriate way. The teaching for the Awana Puggles program is built around four Big Truths found in Scripture: God Made Everything, God is Great, God loves us, We give thanks.

Our Puggles program takes place during Women in the Word (Ladies Bible Study) on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

3 – 5 year olds (JK)

Cubbies display the greatness of God’s character to preschoolers who are constantly asking questions!

SK – Grade 2

Sparks ignites the curiosity of kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.

Grades 3 – 6

T&T, Truth & Training, ushers tweens on a journey to know God and His Word, love and need their Savior, and live out their faith in the ever-changing world around them.

Awana’s first night is Tuesday, September 12 at 6:30 pm. Parents are invited to stay for this first night to see how Awana runs and learn about how to help disciple their kids at home using Awana.

PLAYSCAPE

Did you know that Calvary has a playscape – a playable landscape – at the back of our parking lot? As we continue to develop this space, our aim is to use natural play and to focus on the days of creation as recorded in the Bible!

Our playscape is open for public use throughout the week and is where we often host children’s activities.
